Local Business Leader to lead Hunter Development
16-Mar-2010 The Hunter’s Regional Development Australia Committee has appointed local business leader Todd Williams as its first Chief Executive Officer. Chair, Gaye Hart, said that Todd Williams is well known in Hunter business, sporting and charitable circles and joined Hunter RDA on 27 January 2010.
Todd Williams was previously Director-Operations of Newcastle University Sport. He is an active member of local business networks and has a strong business education including a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from his home-town university, Newcastle.
Ms Hart said Mr Williams is a former Hunter Business Chamber Young Achiever of the Year where he was recognised for his innovative and successful approach to the establishment of The Forum Health and Wellness Centre, Harbourside.
Ms Hart said the establishment of Hunter RDA creates a unique opportunity for the region to present its case to both Federal and State Governments. “Regional Development Australia Committees have been appointed jointly by the Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development and by the NSW Minister for Regional Development.
The Hunter RDA Committee members include local business and community leaders CrJohn Tate, Dr Cameron Archer, Mr Paul Hughes, Ms Susan Ivens, Mr Gary Kennedy, Mr Geoff Lilliss, Cr Julie Lyford, Professor Nick Saunders, Mr Neville Sawyer and Ms Shelley Youman.
Ms Hart said that the newly established Hunter RDA marks a new beginning for regional advocacy and will provide a much needed single voice from the region to all levels of government “Todd Williams is an active member of the regional business network and will provide Hunter RDA with strong leadership and direction as it identifies and addresses regional development challenges and opportunities”
